ABOUT COLORADO WATER STORIES:
Colorado Water Stories (CWS) is an ongoing arts and environment project that promotes water knowledge and celebration. We do this through facilitating collaborative community events and training leaders across disciplines on how to use creative practices to enliven their environmental missions and goals. Our goal is to bring people together, across conventional boundaries, to develop their environmental education and deepen their connection to nature. We all need water. CWS was founded in 2024 by Maren Waldman, after 10+ years of directing nature-based projects at the intersection of dance, music, engineering, and science. Read more of our story on our website.

2026 PROGRAMS:
Colorado Water Stories (CWS) is excited to partner this year with the City of Longmont, The Watershed Center, Dandelion Arts Collective, and Friends of Coal Creek to co-produce these community events:

  • JUNE 14, 2026: 3rd Annual Longmont Water Fair @ Dickens Farm Nature Area
    This year features a new theme and new hands-on activities that show what happens to water after it goes down the drain.This FREE event mixes science, art, and learning to help you follow water on its journey. Play at learning stations, create art on life-size maps, enjoy live performances, talk with local water experts, spend time at the water, and complete a Water Passport to earn fun prizes. Gain a greater sense of community and knowledge about how Colorado water is shared, and take home simple ways to protect our water for the future.  We can’t wait to see you there!

  • JUNE 18, 2026: On Water: Conversation with Sean Cronin, Executive Director of St Vrain & Left Hand Water Conservancy District @ Left Hand Brewery
    A special opportunity to go deeper with your water inquiries and have fun with friends at one of Longmont's top hangouts. This evening will be a conversational forum with Sean Cronin, the Executive Director of our region's leading water district. Come with your water questions and be ready to laugh and learn!

  • NATURE-BASED DANCE WORKSHOPS
    • May 3, 2026: Water Dances Workshop with Erin Roberston & Friends of Coal Creek - an outdoor workshop using movement as a portal to connect with nature and celebrate the Coal Creek watershed. Curriculum derived by Maren Waldman with support from the Global Water Dances project. 
    • 2 more Dancing with the Wild workshops - dates & locations TBD

DONATIONS:
Your generous donations will be allocated towards the following:

  • Artist performance fees for Water Fair 
  • High quality documentation of events by professional photographers 
  • Spanish translation of all our communications (website, event fliers, newsletters)
  • Live Spanish interpretation at all of our events
  • Colorado Water Stories support to boost our capacity and reach (grant writing, growing our team, new collaborations)
