The Colorado Art Science Environment Fellows, a program lead by the CU Boulder Office for Outreach and Engagement in collaboration with Boulder County Arts Alliance and the Institute for Arctic and Alpine Research, presented the art exhibition
“Coloradans and Our Shared Environment in Times of Challenge and Change" at the Colorado State Capitol
The exhibition told the story of how Coloradans are experiencing interrelated challenges of fire, drought, water and air quality in their communities. During this exhibition, artist and scientist teams discussed how collaborations with each other and communities around Colorado tell the story of climate change from multiple perspectives and modalities.
Dates: May 19 through October 15, 2023, viewable Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. -5 p.m.
Location: Colorado State Capitol, 200 E. Colfax Ave., Denver, CO 80203, basement level of the Capitol’s Rotunda
Arts + Science Partnerships Cohort
Interested in partnering with scientists and communities to design and implement projects that impact social and environmental issues?
The Art + Science Partnerships “Creative Strategists” program helps artists and arts leaders become facilitators of interdisciplinary partnerships that impact critical environmental and social issues within communities. Artists and arts leaders who want to participate in a learning community of other students, scientists, artists and community members, and address issues of power, equity and inclusion in community-engaged scholarship are encouraged to apply for the program. This is a great opportunity to learn how to work with communities and scientists in order to turn your art into action.
CU Boulder graduate students, in the arts, sciences, humanities and interdisciplinary programs, and artists and arts organizations in Colorado are invited to apply by Monday, September 13, 2021 at 5pm.
Cohort members will attend an online orientation, a series of monthly virtual workshops in Fall 2021 and Spring 2022, a summer 2022 follow-up and planning meeting, and Fall 2022 exhibition and reflection meeting. During this time, cohort members will co-develop projects with partners focused on issues related to climate change to be completed by September 2022 and will exhibit aspects of these projects in Fall 2022.
Workshops
All workshops will be held 4:30 - 6:30 p.m. online via zoom unless otherwise noted
During each workshop, cohort members will define the partners, resources, and processes necessary to be successful in each project stage.
Optional attendance:
Monthly Workshop Assignments: “Guided response activities” will be required to address the different stages of art-science guidelines and the final project proposal.
Visit our cohorts and advisory members page and the workshops and projects page to learn about the prior cohort.
