Mapleton Hill PorchFest Returns to Boulder For Seventh Year

Largest ever line up of bands and porches scheduled to perform

The 7th Annual Mapleton Hill PorchFest is scheduled for September 16, 2018, from noon to 4:15 pm.  Mapleton Hill PorchFest is a neighborhood walkabout where local musicians play and sing mostly unplugged music on the beautiful porches of the historic Mapleton Hill neighborhood in Boulder, Colorado. Musicians from throughout the region come together to perform during two scheduled sets. This year, there are 27 bands scheduled to perform - the largest roster of local musicians since PorchFest’s first outing in 2012.  Among them are the well-known groups HenScratch and Felonius Smith Trio.

“Folks have told us so many times that PorchFest is their favorite musical event in Boulder each year. We know this musical celebration creates and strengthens neighborliness, sociability, local entertainment, and fun for all age groups,” explains Dom Nozzi, Mapleton Hill PorchFest founder and chair of its organizing committee.  “We started quite modestly in 2012 with 15 bands and a few hundred spectators. It’s so gratifying for us that new groups have actually formed and gone on to thrive as a result of first meeting up at PorchFest. Our dedicated organizing committee—neighbors and music lovers—has allowed us to grow and thrive. On September 16th from noon till 4:15 pm, we will host 27 wonderful bands performing for the 1,000 happy neighbors and friends we expect.”

PorchFest welcomes all comers and urges everyone to participate in the pre-show parade.  There is no admission charge. This year the parade will feature decorated bikes, wagons, pets in costume, local dance troupes and more! Lineup for the parade begins at noon.  The McTeggart Irish Dancers and the LOCO Ukelele Group will be leading the parade. And this year there will be more food offerings than ever before from local carts and trucks stationed at two locations on Mapleton Hill.
