In the White Cube gallery, Line brings Colorado artists Katie Caron, Jennifer Davey, Jennie Kiessling, Charles Livingston, and Amy Reckley together to express the characterization of line (a line is an identifiable path created by a point moving in space). The public is welcome to come to the gallery to observe Jennie create her installation during October 5-7th from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Katie Caron (MFA, Cranbrook Academy of Art) has shown her work in national exhibitions such as Overthrown: Clay Without Limits at the Denver Art Museum and Breakdown at the Guggenheim Gallery. Her piece combines the flow of ink and plexiglass that creates a many layered optical drawing. Jennifer Davey’s (BFA, Colorado State University) piece invites the audience to interact and become part of the installation. Jennie Kiessling (MFA, University of Chicago) is a recipient of NEA and NEH grants. Her piece relates to her new direction, “Recently, I have decided to make drawings. Moving away from the use of earth for a bit – or maybe not- that is unknown. However, rhythm, repetition and the grid as a visual manifestation of breath – those remain the bones of my work.” Amy Reckley (MFA, Colorado State University) exhibits installation, sculpture and drawing nationally and internationally. Reckley questions different definitions in drawing - whether the work is a larger three dimensional installation, a smaller sculpture or a more traditional two dimensional application. Her installation examines the physical and psychological dimension of the wall space.
