Sustainable Art Practices with Darya Warner (Day 1)

Registration is closed for this event
This 2 day interactive workshop takes you through Darya Warner's process for creating sustainable art with 3D printing with living matter. Darya works at the intersection of art and science by bridging the creative process and growth/connections with human and non-human actors through the prism of Climate Change. Darya’s research explores the Biophilia Hypothesis, also known as “the love of all living things,” as a crucial factor in reconnecting humans and nature via interactive installations, visual displays, photography, sound, time-based media, and bioart in the new form of hybrid matter based on care.

Day 1: Learn how Darya creates sustainable art and the recent developments in 3D bioprinting. Then get hands on guidance for creating your own 3D sustainable art by learning the basics to vector drawing techniques and using living matter as your medium.

Day 2: 3D print your design in real time creating a sustainable, living sculpture made with biomatter that is implanted with seeds.

All 3D sculptures will be kept together for display in an enclosed incubator to assist with growth . Photos will be taken on days 3, 5, 7, and 10 to capture the sculptures' growth.

This workshop is free, but registration is required.  Registration for Day 2 is capped at 15 participants and requires attendance at the Day 1 workshop.
