Grant Program, 501(c)(3) Fiscal Sponsorship, and Commissions

The Boulder County Arts Alliance carries out part of its mission by providing funding for individual artists and organizations in Boulder County. Funding is available for all arts disciplines, including: visual arts, theatre, dance, music, storytelling, film, literature, book arts, and more!

Following is a list of our funding programs. Be sure to read the Guidelines and Frequently Asked Questions pages as well as the requirements for each grant.

The BCAA Endowment was established to support artistic excellence and promote stability among individual artists and art organizations working within Boulder County. Grants are available each Fall and late Spring. Applicants are not required to apply for specific kinds of funding depending on the time of year. They are encouraged to ask for funds for what they need. Grant awards may be up to $5000.

The Martha Kate Thomas Fund for Artists grants will be awarded to artists who live or work in Boulder County and who have unforeseen needs due to special circumstances. Grant awards will not exceed $3000.

The Pathways to Jazz Grant Fund supports promotion of jazz music and music of contemporary American composers though assisting performers in producing professional quality CDs for commercial distribution and self-promotion. 

The Arts for All Children Grant Fund supports music teachers in providing lessons and instruments for children in financial need. 

Fiscal Sponsorship entitles individual artists and cultural organizations without 501(c)(3) status to apply to funders under the auspices of the Boulder County Arts Alliance, Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.

The Boulder Star Holiday Card Call for Artists commissions a professional local artist, illustrator, or designer to create an original image that it can license for the annual Boulder Star holiday card and possibly other items. This opportunity is in partnership with the Boulder Chamber.
