Day of the Dead Found Object Shrine Exhibit

Bricolage Gallery at Art Parts Creative Reuse Center in Boulder is seeking entries for our “Day of the Dead” Found Object Shrine Exhibit, opening Fri., Sept. 30 with an artists reception, through November 3, 2016. 

We’re seeking one shrine per artist, which fits the theme and is created with at least 60% reclaimed materials; (reused clay alone is not eligible). Can be dedicated to a hero, mentor, favorite musician/celebrity/author, or family member - including pets - or just be a Day of the Dead-inspired shrine, for wall or table display.  Nothing over 2 feet in any direction or over 60 pounds, and nothing profane. Must be for sale: we will add our 50% gallery commission, so price accordingly. There is a $10 jury fee for all entries, maximum 4 images.  FREE entry fee for artists 14 - 20 years old under our “Young Artists” category. This is an open call to all CO artists utilizing reclaimed materials, so feel free to share this open call with other CO artists. Artists who have exhibited at Art Parts previously are ineligible. Artists are responsible for all mailing fees, including the return of your artwork. We are not responsible for artwork damage in transit, so sturdy packaging and shipping insurance is encouraged.  

How to enter:

1. Send up to 4 jpg images to our email address at: info@ArtPartsBoulder.org. Enter “Day of the Dead” Entry in the subject field. (If you are entering under the “young artist” category, eligible for ages 14 -20, please note this in your email). DEADLINE for all entries: 5pm, August 13, 2016.

2. Visit www.ArtPartsBoulder.org and click on the “Donate Now” button to pay your $10 entry fee. Or mail check to: Art Parts, 2870 Bluff St., Boulder, CO 80301. Include your name with your fee  payment. Your image(s) will not be shared with our jurors until payment is received.

3. Artists will be notified by August 20 of acceptance. Mailed and hand-delivered artwork should arrive beginning Sept. 20 and before 5pm on Sept. 24. (Please note that we are closed Sundays and Mondays and cannot accept deliveries on these days). Artwork should be retrieved Nov. 4 and 5 during business hours.
