Bookkeeper for Boulder Philharmonic

The Boulder Philharmonic Orchestra is seeking a part-time Bookkeeper (15-20 hours per month, with flexible scheduling). Interested and qualified candidates please submit your resume and cover letter to Executive Director Kevin Shuck at kshuck@boulderphil.org.

Essential Functions of Position:

  • Oversee all accounting activities of orchestra including deposits and check-writing, maintain chart of accounts, and monitor accounts payable. 
  • Coordinate internal payroll activities and submit to a third party payroll company.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements for Executive Director and Board Treasurer.
  • Assist Executive Director with cash flow projections and line of credit management.
  • Coordinate preparation of annual financial audit.
  • Assist Executive Director to prepare and submit draft budget to the Board for review and approval.
  • Participate in periodic Finance Committee meetings, as appropriate.
  • Evaluate and update financial management practices and procedures.
  • Complete and confirm all required forms for new staff hires.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong working knowledge of QuickBooks (or similar accounting software) and Excel
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of finance, accounting, auditing and budget analysis
  • Keen understanding of nonprofit accounting, financial management practices, and relevant issues
  • Ability to coordinate multiple tasks and maintain attention to detail
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience: 3-5 years in similar position. Work experience in a non-profit organization is preferred.
  • Knowledge: Bachelor's degree in business, finance, accounting, or related field. CPA desirable.
