This metal bench has a two-toned heart in the center from which two silver, grey, and green wings expand. The seat of the bench dips in the middle where one sits. 2017.
Artist Statement: In my new body of work, Meditation Benches, I’m creating a public space for meditation. A comfortable spot to sit down, close your eyes and think about the positive words that are posted on the back of the bench. To envision the wings behind you lifting you up to a place where you can concentrate on those words. There are 10 brass plaques, each containing one word for contemplation; Purposeful, Unique, Resourceful, Productive, Determined, Strong, Savvy, Brave, Rare, and YOU.
Located in front of the Collective Community Art Center.
