Description[Edit This]
"The Arrow of Time" by artist Elaine Calzolari is not only art, but a teaching tool as well. The work is a walkway that depicts the geologic time table from the Pre-Cambrian era to the present. A large boulder at the start of the walkway represents the Pre-Cambrian era. From there, concrete bands mark each era in proportion to its length of time. The paving mimics rock formations, and each section features stones from its time period. Calzolari collaborated with landscape architects on the project. The dedication plaque includes a key with information including the name and location of each epoch, the stones used, and their place of origin. 1997.
