Position title: Orchestra Manager
Part-time. Compensation $6,000
Reports to Executive Director



Position overview

The Orchestra Manager attends and oversees all GBYO events to ensure they run smoothly and effectively. Working closely with the Executive Director, Artistic Director, conductors, mentors, and families, the Orchestra Manager implements a plan to make rehearsals and concerts happen. The Orchestra Manager must be reliable and attentive, and maintains good interpersonal working relationships with administrative staff, music staff, students, parents, guests, board members, and volunteers while carrying out all required duties in a manner consistent with the policies, procedures, goals and objectives established by the Board of Directors.

 

The GBYO Orchestra Manager position is a part-time position that reports to the Executive Director.

 

Responsibilities and Duties

The following is intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed. It is not to be construed as an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties, and skills required.

 

The Orchestra Manager exemplifies the values of GBYO and its mission to provide a variety of opportunities for young musicians to deepen their musical skills and passion and to engage the community through performances of the highest possible artistic level.

 

The Orchestra Manager oversees operations at all rehearsals and concerts, including backstage and front of house production matters such as planning operation logistics at various venues, arranging for equipment, set up and tear down, and closing up venues. The OM oversees the mentor program, procures substitutes and guests, assists with marketing and communications, works on administrative items such as attendance tracking and correspondence, and assists with other projects as needed.

 

An average of 8 hours per week expected, primarily Mondays 4:00 - 9:30pm. See calendar at www.calendarGreaterBoulderYO.org/

 

Requirements

Ability to frequently move materials and equipment.

Ability to easily traverse stairs and limited backstage areas.

Available to work evenings and weekends.

Outstanding interpersonal and critical thinking skills.

Knowledge of Google Docs.

Excellent time management skills, the ability to prioritize work, multi-task, and work within financial constraints.

Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

High level of professionalism in dealing with confidential and sensitive issues.

The employee must be able to speak and listen on the telephone, accurately see and interpret columns of numbers, and be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

 

Preferred 

Experience with orchestras, music education, youth.
