Civic Engagement in the Arts

When: Monday, April 08 (5:00 PM - 7:30 PM)

Where: Mi Chantli - Art and Movement Sanctuary (1750 30th St, Boulder)

How do we show up for our community? Explore this question with Warm Cookies of the Revolution, Colorado Business Committee for the Arts, and KGNU! Evan Weissman, Meredith Badler, and Rosanna Longo-Better will share a conversation on how to apply the principles of civic engagement, through a very creative lens, to address some of the most pressing local and regional  issues of our time.

Boulder Arts Week

April 5 - April 13, 2024, is Boulder's only large-scale, inclusive celebration of our community’s vibrant arts and cultural offerings.

Con·nect: Featuring Ivan-Daniel Espinosa and the CU ideas group

Tuesday April 16, 2024, 5:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art (BMoCA), 1750 13th St., Boulder, CO 80302

This event is the current iteration of “Con·nect” a series of social gatherings designed to amplify BIPOC artists and to strengthen relationships and partnerships among BIPOC artists and arts organizations in Boulder County. The evening will feature two performances by CU Boulder students followed by informal discussion and sharing among local artists and arts organizations.

Este evento es la versión actual de “Con·nect”, una serie de reuniones sociales diseñadas para amplificar a los artistas BIPOC y fortalecer las relaciones y asociaciones entre los artistas BIPOC y las organizaciones artísticas en el condado de Boulder. La velada contará con dos presentaciones de estudiantes de CU Boulder seguidas de una discusión informal y un intercambio entre artistas y organizaciones artísticas locales.

Mi Chantli Art & Movement Sanctuary

Mi Chantli is a movement and arts sanctuary in Boulder offering dance classes, open studio time, community events, rentals, and a home for all creatives. They have 2 fully equipped dance studios and a beautiful lobby/community space where anything from poetry sessions to after class hang out happens. Their main goal is to cultivate community and give dancers, poets and artists a place to be. 

Mi Chantli is proud to be a studio that is Mexican/Chicano owned. Chantli is an Aztec word that means home, and the message being shared is that Mi Chantli es tu Chantli. Fun fact - the Mi Chantli logo is the symbol for movement and transformation!

Join Mi Chantli on Sunday, March 10th from 12:00pm-8:00pm to celebrate and honor Mexica New Year, twelve flint knife (maklactli ome tecpatl)! Danza Mexica Tlahuitzcalli! This event will include introductory discussion and art activity on the Aztec calendar and names of the days and their significance. Music, art, dance & storytelling! Mexica Tiahui! Adelante Mexicas!

Mi Chantli es un santuario de movimiento y arte en Boulder que ofrece clases de baile, tiempo de estudio abierto, eventos comunitarios, alquileres y un hogar para todos los creativos. Tienen 2 estudios de baile totalmente equipados y un hermoso vestíbulo/espacio comunitario donde ocurre cualquier cosa, desde sesiones de poesía hasta reuniones después de clase. Su principal objetivo es cultivar la comunidad y brindarles a bailarines, poetas y artistas un lugar donde estar.
Mi Chantli se enorgullece de ser un estudio de propiedad mexicana/chicana. Chantli es una palabra azteca que significa hogar, y el mensaje que intentamos compartir es que Mi Chantli es tu Chantli. Dato curioso: ¡el logotipo de Mi Chantli es el símbolo del movimiento y la transformación!

¡Únase a Mi Chantli el domingo 10 de marzo de 12:00 p. m. a 8:00 p. m. para celebrar y honrar el Año Nuevo Mexica, los doce cuchillos de pedernal (maklactli ome tecpatl)! Danza Mexica Tlahuitzcalli! Este evento incluirá una discusión introductoria y actividad artística sobre el calendario azteca y los nombres de los días y su significado. ¡Música, arte, danza y narración de cuentos! ¡Tiahui mexicana! ¡Adelante Mexicanos!
